General elections were held in Barbados on 18 June 1981. The result was a victory for the ruling Barbados Labour Party, which won 17 of the 27 seats. Voter turnout was 71.6%. This was the first election to take place after the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act (1980) had increased the number of seats in the House of Assembly of Barbados from 24 to 27, the first such expansion since 1843.

- Las elecciones generales de Barbados de 1981 tuvieron lugar el jueves 18 de junio de 1981 del mencionado año con el objetivo de configurar el Parlamento del país caribeño para el período 1981-1986. El número de escaños de la Cámara de la Asamblea fue aumentado de 24 a 27, la primera expansión parlamentaria en casi 140 años (desde 1843) y la primera desde la instauración del sufragio universal en 1951. En base a la mayoría de la Cámara fueron designados posteriormente los 21 miembros del Senado. Los comicios se convocaron con la disolución del Parlamento saliente el 26 de mayo, por medio de un decreto emitido por el gobernador general . La nominación de candidatos tuvo lugar el 3 de junio de 1981, por lo que la campaña duró dos semanas. Fueron las séptimas elecciones realizadas en Barbados (es)
