An AIRMET, or Airmen's Meteorological Information, is a concise description of weather phenomena that are occurring or may occur (forecast) along an air route that may affect aircraft safety. Compared to SIGMETs, AIRMETs cover less severe weather: moderate turbulence and icing, sustained surface winds of 30 knots or more, or widespread restricted visibility.

Ils sont émis, par le centre météorologique responsable du secteur touché, uniquement s'il y a des conditions potentiellement dangereuses en dessous de 24 000 pieds (8 000 mètres) non décrites dans la prévision de zone valide mais qui ne nécessitent pas l'envoi d'un SIGMET. * formazione di ghiaccio ("ICE")
* onde orografiche ("MTW")
* visibilità al suolo se inferiore ai 5000 metri e fenomeni del tempo che limitano la visibilità (pioggia, neve, pioviggine, grandine, foschia e nebbia). È un messaggio utile soprattutto per i voli a bassa quota: infatti la rilevazione verticale dell'AIRMET va dal suolo fino a FL 100 (Livello di volo 100, 10000 piedi) o fino a FL150 se si tratta di zone montagnose. Analogamente al SIGMET, l'AIRMET è un messaggio che dà informazioni meteo all'interno della FIR. (it)
