- Beat ist das neunte Studioalbum von King Crimson und das zweite nach der Reunion der Band im Jahr 1981. Es wurde 1982 veröffentlicht. Das Lied Heartbeat wurde als Single veröffentlicht und erreicht Platz 57 in den US-Charts. Das Album selbst kam auf Platz 52. Es war das erste Mal in der Bandgeschichte, dass zwischen zwei Studioalben keine personelle Umbesetzung erfolgte. (de)

Sorti en 1982, il s'agit du deuxième album enregistré par le quatuor composé de Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin et Bill Bruford, après Discipline, sorti l'année précédente. C'est la première fois dans l'histoire du groupe que la même formation enregistre deux albums consécutifs. Les paroles, écrites par Adrian Belew, font de nombreuses références aux écrivains de la Beat Generation : Sartori in Tangier rappelle le Satori à Paris de Jack Kerouac, tandis que Neal and Jack and Me fait référence à Kerouac et à Neal Cassady. - Beat – album brytyjskiego zespołu rockowego King Crimson wydany w roku 1982. Tytuł płyty został częściowo zainspirowany nurtem pisarskim Beat Generation:
* Utwór 1 – tytuł "Neal and Jack and Me" odnosi się do Jacka Kerouaca i Neala Cassady'ego - pisarzy tego nurtu.
* Utwór 3 – "Sartori in Tangier" odnosi się do tytułu powieści Kerouaca pt Satori in Paris i miasta Tanger w Maroku, gdzie mieszkało wielu z pisarzy beat generation i które było często miejscem akcji ich utworów (jak np. powieść The Sheltering Sky Paula Bowlesa, z której zespół zaczerpnął tytuł do płyty "Discipline".
* Utwór 7 – "The Howler" – odnosi się prawdopodobnie do wiersza "Howl" autorstwa innego beatowego artysty – Allena Ginsberga.
* Według Trouser Press Record Guide, album skupiał się wokół 25 rocznicy publikacji p (pl)
