Buchau Abbey, otherwise the Imperial Abbey of Buchau (German: Reichsstift Buchau), was initially a community of canonesses regular, and later a collegiate foundation of secular canonesses, in Buchau (now Bad Buchau) in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. (en) Das freiweltliche Reichsstift Buchau (Patrozinium: St. Cornelius und Cyprian) wurde nach einer Legende um 770 im heutigen Bad Buchau am Federsee in Oberschwaben als Kloster gegründet. Das Kloster war eine fränkisch-karolingische Gründung und diente der Durchdringung und strategischen Sicherung („Überherrschaftung“) der neu gewonnenen Herrschaft des fränkischen Königtums im Herzogtum Alemannien, das später in das Herzogtum Schwaben aufging. Secondo la leggenda, essa venne fondata nel 770 sull'isola del fiume dal conte franco Guerino e da sua moglie Adelinde (che continua tutt'oggi ad essere commemorata nella locale Adelindisfest). Il convento venne posto sotto sicura rendita finanziaria da Ludovico il Pio, il quale nell'819 garantì alle monache le proprietà già acquisite a ed a Mengen. Nell'857, Ludovico il Germanico lo dichiarò una casa religiosa privata della famiglia imperiale carolingia, nominando a badessa sua figlia Irmingarda (m. 16 luglio 866). (it)
