- Christopher Columbus Langdell (22. května 1826 – 6. července 1906) byl americký právník a právní teoretik, který působil jako děkan mezi lety 1870 až 1895. Odkazem, který po sobě děkan Langdell zanechal, jsou vzdělávací a administrativní reformy na Harvard Law School. - Christopher Columbus Langdell (May 22, 1826 – July 6, 1906) was an American jurist and legal academic who was Dean of Harvard Law School from 1870 to 1895. Dean Langdell's legacy lies in the educational and administrative reforms he made to Harvard Law School, a task he was entrusted with by President Charles Eliot. Before Langdell's tenure the study of law was a rather technical pursuit in which students were simply told what the law is. Langdell applied the principles of pragmatism to the teaching of law as a result of which students were compelled to use their own reasoning powers to understand how the law might apply in a given case. - Christopher Columbus Langdell was een Amerikaans jurist van gemengde Engelse en Schots-Ierse afkomst. In 1870 de 'case method' in de juridische opleiding aan de Harvard Law School. Hij zou het decaanschap tot 1895 uitoefenen en ging in 1900 met emeritaat als Dane professor of law. Hij ontving zijn doctors titel (LL.D.) in 1875 en in 1903 werd een leerstoel naar hem vernoemd. Na zijn dood werd een van de gebouwen op de campus van Harvard naar hem vernoemd. (nl)
