Design B-65 was a class of Super Type A cruisers planned by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) before and during World War II. As envisioned by the IJN, the cruisers were to play a key role in the Night Battle Force portion of the "Decisive battle" strategy which Japan hoped, in the event of war, to employ against the United States Navy.

Itu karena Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang menganggap kapal penjelajah memiliki peran penting dalam sebuah pertempuran untuk memberi "Kemenangan yang meyakinkan". Perancangan dimulai pada tahun 1939. Tes persenjataan utama, pelindung anti torpedo dan lain-lainnya dilakukan pada 1940-1941. Namun seperti biasa, "Rencana" ini gagal pada tahun 1942 setelah Pertempuran Midway dan Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang akhirnya berfokus pada pembangunan kapal induk. (in) B65型超甲型巡洋艦（超甲巡、B65がたちょうこうがたじゅんようかん　en:Design B-65 cruiser）とは、日本海軍が計画した巡洋艦または巡洋戦艦である。老朽化した金剛型戦艦の代艦として、夜戦で水雷戦隊を支援する役割を与えられる予定であった。巡洋戦艦並みの船体と装備を持ち、大和型戦艦に類似した外観を持つ。昭和16年に策定された第五次海軍軍備充実計画（⑤計画）で2隻の建造が計画された。本型は、⑤計画から改⑤計画への見直しの際に航空母艦（空母）の重要さから計画から削除され、2隻とも建造中止となった。 (ja) Линейные крейсера типа B-65 — нереализованный проект линейных крейсеров японского императорского флота начала 1940-х годов. (ru) O Projeto B-65 foi uma classe planejada de cruzadores de batalha para a Marinha Imperial Japonesa. Os navios começaram a ser desenvolvidos em 1939 e inicialmente tinham a intenção de fazer parte da Força de Batalha Noturna, que atacaria as defesas externas de uma frota inimiga para lançar torpedos nos navios capitais no centro. Entretanto, seu propósito foi alterado para a escolta da frota principal, pois os japoneses tinham descoberto as especificações da Classe Alaska, da Marinha dos Estados Unidos. O planejamento já estava bem avançado a ponto de testes de armamentos terem sido realizados, com as construções tendo sido aprovadas, porém os rumos negativos da guerra, mais a priorização da construção de porta-aviões e navios menores, impediu que o Projeto B-65 fosse construído.
