- Economische Partnerschapsakkoorden (EPA's) zijn overeenkomsten over goederen, diensten, investeringen en openbare aanbestedingen die de Europese Unie wil afsluiten met de zogenaamde ACS-staten. Dat zijn in totaal 79 voormalige koloniën van Frankrijk, Italië, Portugal, Spanje, België en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. 48 ACS-landen liggen in Afrika, 16 in de Caraïben en 15 in de Stille Oceaan. EPA’s hebben tot doel om deze - arme - landen te helpen zichzelf te ontwikkelen en een sterke economie op te bouwen. (nl)

Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) bezeichnet von der EU geförderte Abkommen über Freihandelszonen zwischen der EU und den 79 AKP-Staaten (in der Mehrzahl ehemalige europäische Kolonien in Afrika, der Karibik und im Südpazifik). Die vertragliche Grundlage der EPA liegt im Cotonou-Abkommen, welche am 23. Juni 2000 von den Mitgliedstaaten der EU und den Mitgliedstaaten der Gruppe der AKP-Staaten in Cotonou, Benin, unterzeichnet wurde. Konkrete EPA-Verhandlungen laufen seit dem Jahr 2002. (de)
- Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) are a scheme to create a free trade area (FTA) between the European Union and other countries. They are a response to continuing criticism that the non-reciprocal and discriminating preferential trade agreements offered by the EU are incompatible with WTO rules. The EPAs date back to the signing of the Cotonou Agreement. The EPAs with the different regions are at different states of play. The EU has signed EPAs with the following countries: the Southern African Development Community (SADC), ECOWAS (16 states), six countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, Cameroon, four Pacific states, and the CARIFORUM states.
