Epirus or Epeiros (Ancient Greek: Ἤπειρος, romanized: Ḗpeiros), in Greek mythology, was a member of the Theban royal family as the daughter of princess Agave and Echion, one of the Spartoi. She was the sister of Pentheus, successor of King Cadmus of Thebes.

Η Ήπειρος ακολούθησε τον παππού της Κάδμο και την Αρμονία όταν εγκατέλειψαν τη Θήβα και κατευθύνθηκαν προς τα βόρεια, έχοντας μαζί τους την τέφρα του βασιλιά Πενθέα, αδελφού της Ηπείρου. Η Ήπειρος πέθανε στη Χαονία και ενταφιάστηκε σε ένα ιερό άλσος, το οποίο σχετιζόταν με τον μύθο της και του Κιχύρου. Η περιοχή Ήπειρος ονομάσθηκε έτσι από το μυθικό αυτό πρόσωπο. (el)

- Epiro (in greco: Ἤπειρος Ḕpeiros), nella mitologia greca, è la figlia di Agave ed Echione. Epiro accompagnò Cadmo e Armonia mentre stavano portando il corpo di Penteo. Durante l'accompagnamento Epiro morì e fu sepolta in un boschetto. Questo boschetto fu poi considerato sacro e l'intera regione fu poi ribattezzata Epiro in suo nome. (it)

Durante l'accompagnamento Epiro morì e fu sepolta in un boschetto. Questo boschetto fu poi considerato sacro e l'intera regione fu poi ribattezzata Epiro in suo nome. Il boschetto è considerato anche il luogo dove il figlio del re Cichiro uccise accidentalmente una giovane ragazza di nome Anthippe durante una battuta di caccia. Preso dal rimorso si gettò in un burrone e morì. Il re dei Caoni fondò la città di Cichiro nei pressi del burrone. (it)
