- The Genographic Project, launched on 13 April 2005 by the National Geographic Society and IBM, was a genetic anthropological study (sales discontinued on 31 May 2019) that aimed to map historical human migrations patterns by collecting and analyzing DNA samples. The final phase of the project was Geno 2.0 Next Generation. Upon retirement of the site, 1,006,542 participants in over 140 countries had joined the project. (en)

- Das Genographic-Projekt wurde im April 2005 von der US-amerikanischen National Geographic Society und IBM in Kooperation mit der University of Arizona and Family Tree DNA gestartet und ist eine auf fünf Jahre angelegte anthropologische Studie mit dem Ziel, die historischen Wanderungsbewegungen der Menschheit zu kartieren. Dazu sollen DNA-Proben von über 100.000 Menschen auf allen fünf Kontinenten gesammelt werden. Prominente Mitglieder sind Spencer Wells (Projektleiter, Wissenschaftler von National Geographic), Himla Soodyall (Wissenschaftler), Ajay Royyuru (Leiter der Bioinformatik, IBM). (de)
- El Proyecto Genográfico (The Genographic Project en inglés), se inició en abril del 2005 y consiste en un proyecto de investigación antropológico proyectado a cinco años, destinado a mapear las migraciones humanas en la historia. Para ello, el proyecto recolectará y analizará muestras de ADN humano de más de 100.000 personas en todo el planeta. Se analizarán los marcadores genéticos existentes en los ADN mitocondriales y el cromosoma Y. En abril de 2011, contaba con más de 400.000 analizadas, hacia noviembre de 2019 se registran más de 1.000.000. (es)

- Genografie is de jonge tak van wetenschap die onderzoek doet naar de afstammingsgeschiedenis van de mens. Genografie maakt hierbij gebruik van het DNA van mensen, anders dan taalrelaties en archeologische vondsten zoals in andere wetenschappelijke takken. Door de geringe mutatiesnelheid van de betrokken types DNA kan deze informatie, in combinatie met de geografische spreiding van bepaalde mutaties, goed gebruikt worden om (pre-)historische migratiepatronen te achterhalen. The Genographic Project) jest powstałym 13 kwietnia 2005 roku wspólnym przedsięwzięciem National Geographic Society i firmy IBM mającym za cel ustalenie tras prehistorycznych migracji ludzi. Badania w założeniu miały trwać pięć lat, ale zostały przedłużone do końca roku 2011 i polegają na zbieraniu oraz analizie próbek DNA od setek tysięcy ludzi z całego świata.Są to pierwsze badania antropologii genetycznej na tak szeroką skalę. - Геногра́фія — наука про вивчення частин геному, що піддалися мутаціям за час існування людства. В 1928 році геногеографію як окреме поняття вперше ввів в науку російський генетик, академік О. С. Серебровський (1892—1948). Особливої уваги вчені приділили двом ланкам з інформацією, що передається:1) Y-ДНК з ядра клітини, що є тільки у чоловіків та передається тільки по чоловічій лінії; 2) мнДНК (мітохондріальна ДНК), що існує поза ядром в особливих утвореннях — мітохондріях, що виробляють енергію для клітини. МтДНК є і у жінок, і у чоловіків, але передається тільки по жіночій лінії. (uk)
