Das Laboratorio di Storia delle Alpi an der Universität der italienischen Schweiz ist die Geschäftsstelle der Gesellschaft und entwickelt eigene wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten. Die Gesellschaft befasst sich mit der Geschichte des Alpenraums Frankreich, Monaco, Italien, Schweiz, Liechtenstein, Österreich, Deutschland, Slowenien und fördert wissenschaftliche Kontakte mit Bergregionen in anderen Teilen Europas und der Welt. Gegründet wurde sie 1995 durch den Schweizer Historiker Jean-François Bergier. Sie organisiert im Zweijahresrhythmus Kongresse an wechselnden Orten der Alpen über spezifische Themen wie räumliche Mobilität; Gebirge und Stadt; materielle Kultur usw. Seit den 2000er Jahren hat die Gesellschaft eine eigene Forschungsinitiative zur Geschichte des Tourismus lanciert. - The International Society for Alpine History (French: Association Internationale pour l’Histoire des Alpes, Italian: Associazione Internazionale per la Storia delle Alpi, German: Internationale Gesellschaft für historische Alpenforschung) promotes research on the history of the European Alps and publishes an annual Journal. The Laboratorio de Storia delle Alpi at the Università della Svizzera italiana is the secretariat of the Society and develops its own scholarly agenda. The International Society for Alpine History focusses on the history of the entire Alpine area (France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Slovenia) and promotes scholarly contacts with mountain regions in other parts of Europe and of the world. It was founded by the eminent Swiss historian Jean-François Bergier in 1995 and is interested in all historical periods and in many forms of interdisciplinary cooperation. It organizes biennial conferences in different places of the Alps about specific subjects such as spatial mobility; mountains and cities; material culture; etc. More recently the Society has launched a research initiative on its own about the history of tourism. Membership rights in the Society are linked to the subscription of its journal. (en)

L’Association internationale pour l’Histoire des Alpes s’intéresse à l’histoire de l’arc alpin dans son ensemble (France, Principauté de Monaco, Italie, Suisse, Liechtenstein, Autriche, Allemagne, Slovénie). Elle favorise les contacts scientifiques entre les régions de montagne et d’autres parties de l’Europe et du monde. Fondée en 1995 par l’historien suisse Jean-François Bergier, l’Association aborde l’ensemble des périodes historiques et privilégie toutes les formes de collaboration interdisciplinaire. Elle organise des colloques bisannuels dans diverses localités alpines sur des thèmes spécifiques comme la mobilité spatiale, la ville et la montagne, la culture matérielle, etc. Récemment l’Association a soutenu un projet de recherche consacré à l’histoire du tourisme.
