A kuisi (or kuizi) is a Native Colombian fipple (or duct) flute made from a hollowed cactus stem, with a beeswax and charcoal powder mixture for the head, with a thin quill made from the feather of a large bird for the mouthpiece. Seagull, turkey and eagle feathers are among the feathers commonly used.

  • La gaita del laboreo colombiana o kuisi es un instrumento musical aerófono de la Costa Caribe colombiana de origen indígena,​​ utilizado en diferentes ritmos musicales englobados en la denominación "música de gaita": gaita instrumental, porro, cumbia, merengue, puya, entre otros.​ Es una especie de flauta construida a partir del corazón del cardón, con una formación de cera de abejas y polvo de carbón en uno de sus extremos en donde se hace una ranura y se inserta un apéndice cilíndrico, generalmente la base de una pluma de pato, a manera de canal y boquilla, respectivamente, con entre 3 y 6 orificios en la parte baja del cuerpo.​ Se le llama gaita por la similitud de su sonido con el de las gaitas de pico de España.
