Pasterka is a midnight mass celebrated by Roman Catholics during Christmas between December 24 and 25 across Poland. A close translation of the name would be the "Shepherds' Mass" (literally: 'that which belongs to the shepherds' in Polish), in reference to the Biblical shepherds, who were visited by an angel and told of the birth of Christ. During the Pasterka Mass, Polish people sing traditional kolędy, Christmas carols from the Roman calendae) in the spirit of joy.

- Die Pasterka ist die wichtigste römisch-katholische Weihnachtsmesse in Polen, die meist um Mitternacht zwischen dem 24. und 25. Dezember die Geburt Christi feiert. Während der Pasterka werden traditionelle Weihnachtslieder gesungen – darunter auch die polnische Weihnachtshymne „Bóg się rodzi“. Die Teilnahme an der Pasterka gehört für viele Christen in Polen fest zu Weihnachten dazu. Viele Gläubige besuchen zweimal diese Weihnachtsmesse und werden auch von den Priestern hierzu animiert.
