Ronald William Pelton (November 18, 1941 – September 6, 2022) was a National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence analyst who was convicted in 1986 of spying for and selling secrets to the Soviet Union. One such top secret operation he compromised was Operation Ivy Bells. Pelton was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and graduated in 1960 in the upper 25 percent of his high school class. Pelton died in Frederick, Maryland, on September 6, 2022, at the age of 80.
