School discipline relates to actions taken by teachers or school organizations toward students when their behavior disrupts the ongoing educational activity or breaks a rule created by the school. Discipline can guide the children's behavior or set limits to help them learn to take better care of themselves, other people and the world around them.

(de) 校則（こうそく）とは、学校内部における規則のうち、特に在学生自身に関わる定めのことである。児童規則（じどうきそく）、生徒規則（せいときそく）、学生規則（がくせいきそく）などともいう。校則を定めるかどうかは学則などとは異なり各学校の事情に委ねられ形式や効力は各学校によって異なっている。また、教師の裁量や校長の指針によっても異なる。このように各学校によって校則が異なるため、教育委員会が細かな校則を把握できていない。そのため、日本の一部の学校においては、学業や人格形成の観点から本来必要のないルール（頭髪・服装規定といった「身だしなみ」に関するものなど）が存在している。このようなルールは生徒に「遵法意識の低下」や「規則全般へのアレルギー」をもたらす場合があり、かえって人格形成が妨げられる要因となっている。 2022年度より、東京都では不適切な校則や指導の見直しを行っており、教育環境の改善が期待されている。しかし、私立中高が数多く存在する東京都においては、都立高校を対象とした校則見直しの効果は限定的となっており、根本的な解決には至っていない。 (ja) Se entiende por disciplina escolar que los alumnos deben de seguir un código de conducta conocido por lo general como .
