- The Rose was an Elizabethan theatre. It was the fourth of the public theatres to be built, after The Theatre (1576), the Curtain (1577), and the theatre at Newington Butts (c. 1580?) – and the first of several playhouses to be situated in Bankside, Southwark, in a liberty outside the jurisdiction of the City of London's civic authorities. Its remains were excavated by archaeologists in 1989 and are listed by Historic England as a Scheduled Monument. (en)

- The Rose was een theater in Engeland, gebouwd ten tijde van Elizabeth I. Het behoorde met The Theatre, The Curtain en het Newington Butts Theatre tot de eerste permanente theaters in Londen en het was het eerste theater dat werd gebouwd in Bankside, waar vervolgens ook andere theaters zouden verrijzen, waaronder The Globe. Bankside lag buiten de City of London, waardoor de autoriteiten er geen gezag over hadden. Dit was gunstig aangezien het amusement in de 'theaterwijken' vaak verder ging dan alleen toneelspel. (nl)
