In 2001 the Ventanarosa released the Showtime movie In the Time of the Butterflies, another adaptation of Julia Alvarez's novel by the same title. The next year, Frida, a film Hayek had been involved with since 1997, was released in theaters. The biographical film about the life of artist Frida Kahlo went on to win two Oscars. The success of Frida, coupled with the good reception of In the Time of the Butterflies, was followed by the 2003 Emmy-winning , also for Showtime. Ventanarosa became involved with Reveille Productions' United States adaptation of the Colombian telenovela, Yo Soy Betty La Fea in 2004. The series — later titled Ugly Betty — was picked up by ABC, where it aired from 2006 to 2010. In 2018, the company received a movie deal with Lionsgate. In June 2020, Ventanarosa signed a two-year first-look deal with HBO Max. (en)
