Fort Vredenburgh was a Dutch fort on the Gold Coast, established on the left bank of the (Dutch Komenda). The fort exists as preserved ruins. Because of its testimony to European economic and colonial influence in West Africa, the fort was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, along with other nearby forts and castles.

(en) Le fort Vredenburgh est un fort néerlandais de la Côte-de-l'Or néerlandaise, établi en 1682 sur la rive gauche de la rivière Komenda. Sur le même site un poste de traite fut établi par les Hollandais vers 1600, mais il fut abandonné peu de temps après. En 1687, le fort anglais de Komenda fut construit sur la rive droite de la rivière. Le fort a été occupé entre 1781 et 1785 par les Britanniques. En 1872, le fort fut cédé au Royaume-Uni, avec l’ensemble de la Gold Coast néerlandaise. (fr) Fort Vredenburg is een gedeeltelijk bewaard gebleven 17e-eeuws fort langs de Goudkust in Ghana. Het fort is tussen 1688 en 1689 door Nederlanders ongeveer 15 kilometer ten westen van Elmina gebouwd in het kader van de West-Indische Compagnie (WIC). Vredenburg stond op een van de oevers van de Komenda (Hua) en op de andere oever lag het Engelse fort Komenda. Het Nederlandse fort maakte deel uit van een serie soortgelijke verdedigingswerken aan de Ghanese kust die onder meer fungeerde als een spil in de goud- en slavenhandel. (nl)
