The official title is Gobernador Constitucional del Estado Libre y Soberano de San Luis Potosí (Governor of the Free and Sovereign State of San Luis Potosí). The governor is democratically elected for a term of six years, and cannot be re-elected. The term begins of September 26 in the year of the election and terminates on September 25, six years later.
