Mar Joseph II Sliba Marouf (or Youssef II Sliba Bet Macruf) was the second incumbent of the Josephite line of Church of the East, a little patriarchate in full communion with the pope active in the areas of Amid and Mardin in the 17th–19th century. He was the patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church from 1696 to 1713.

  • Mar Joseph II. (* 1667 in Tel Keppe; † 2. Juni 1712 in Diyarbakır) war ein Patriarch der Chaldäisch-katholischen Kirche (Patriarchat von Diyarbakır). Sliba (Saliba) aus der Familie Mar'uf wurde als Kind christlicher Eltern in Tel Keppe (Tell Kefe) nahe Mosul geboren. Seine theologische Ausbildung erfuhr er offensichtlich bei lateinischen Missionaren. Im Alter von 22 Jahren wurde er in Diyarbakir durch den chaldäisch-katholischen Patriarchen Joseph I. zum Priester und 1691 zum Metropoliten von Diyarbakır ordiniert. Bereits 1694 bestimmte ihn Joseph I. († 1707 in Rom) zu seinem Nachfolger im Patriarchenamt. Erst als solcher lernte er die arabische Sprache. Am 21. Mai 1696 erhielt Joseph II. durch Papst Innozenz XII. Bestätigung und Pallium als „Patriarch von Babylon der Chaldäer“ (Patriarcha (de)

Saliba o Sliba, che in lingua caldaica significa croce, nacque nel 1667 nel villaggio di (oggi nel nord dell'Iraq). Nel 1689 fu ordinato prete dal patriarca Yosep I, che due anni dopo lo scelse come suo vicario e lo consacrò vescovo di Amida, città sede patriarcale. Quando Yosep I dette le dimissioni nel 1695, Sliba Bet Ma'aruf gli succedette sul trono patriarcale con il nome di Yosep II; fu confermato dalla Santa Sede il 21 maggio (o 18 giugno) 1696. (it)
