Kansas City Southern (KCS) is a pure transportation holding company with railroad investments in the United States, Mexico, and Panama. The KCS rail network includes about 7,299 miles (11,747 km) of track in the U.S. and Mexico. As of early 2022, Canadian Pacific Railway is attempting to purchase Kansas City Southern. If approved by the US Surface Transportation Board, the combined "Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited" will form the only railroad serving all of North America (Canada, Mexico and the United States).
