Mehmet Ergen is a Turkish theatre director, producer and entrepreneur, currently based in London Borough of Hackney. Ergen came to London from Istanbul in 1989, aged 22, speaking minimal English and with no intention on settling in the capital. He expanded his vocabulary by listening to Shakespeare audiobooks and labeling everything in his first home with his first wife Linda Mills, who was a political activist. Together he shared his suitcase of plays, which he set about getting the English translations, sharing his love for the theatre with Linda Mills.
