- Le comté de Wigtown ou Wigtownshire (gaélique : Siorrachd Bhaile na h-Uige) et parfois West Galloway est un ancien comté dans le Sud-Ouest de l'Écosse. En tant que Wigtown, c'était une des régions de lieutenance d'Écosse avec pour chef-lieu historique la ville de Wigtown. Jusqu'en 1975, le Wigtownshire était un comté. - Wigtownshire (schott.-gälisch Siorrachd Bhaile na h-Ùige) ist eine traditionelle Grafschaft im äußersten Südwesten Schottlands. Historische Hauptstadt und namensgebender Ort ist die Stadt Wigtown, weitere bedeutende Orte sind Newton Stewart, Stranraer und Whithorn. Als Verwaltungsgrafschaft bestand Wigtownshire zwischen 1890 und 1975 und bildete dann den District Wigtown der Region Dumfries and Galloway. Until 1975, Wigtownshire was an administrative county used for local government. Since 1975 the area has formed part of Dumfries and Galloway for local government purposes. Wigtownshire continues to be used as a territory for land registration, being a registration county.
