The Woman's Seamen's Friend Society of Connecticut is a non-profit organization founded "for the purpose of aiding the destitute seafarers who may frequent the port of New Haven, and of endeavouring to benefit the temporal and spiritual interests of such seafarers as chance of commerce may bring to said port." It was founded in 1859, with an act of incorporation dated May 30, 1860. Around 1902, the estate of Mrs. Betsey Bradley, in the amount of $230,000, came to the society.
