| - 1,2,4-Trihydroxyanthraquinone, commonly called purpurin, is an anthraquinone. It is a naturally occurring red/yellow dye. It is formally derived from 9,10-anthraquinone by replacement of three hydrogen atoms by hydroxyl (OH) groups. Purpurin is also called verantin, smoke Brown G, hydroxylizaric acid, and C.I. 58205. It is a minor component of the classical lake pigment "madder lake" or Rose Madder. (en)

- Purpuryna, 1,2,4-trihydroksyantrachinon – organiczny związek chemiczny, trójhydroksylowa pochodna antrachinonu. Stosowana do barwienia bawełny, jako barwnik mikroskopowy i odczynnik do wykrywania związków boru. Ponadto jest wykorzystywania do otrzymywania innych barwników. Po raz pierwszy została wyizolowana w czystej formie przez Pierre’a Jeana Robiqueta i w 1827 roku z korzenia marzany barwierskiej (korzeń marzany stosowany był w technikach barwienia już w XIII w.). Współcześnie otrzymuje się ją przez utlenianie alizaryny (1,2-dihydroksyantrachinonu) lub (1,4-dihydroksyantrachinonu). (pl)

* Purpurina Natural - O nome é aplicado a uma substância corante natural, de cor vermelho escuro, extraída de raízes de vegetais do género ¨ Rubia¨ ou ¨Ruiva¨ (Rubia tinctorum L). É um composto orgânico derivado da Antraquinona por substituição de três grupos hidrogénio por grupos hidroxilo. (pt)
