The 1996 Arizona Cardinals season was the franchise's 98th season, 77th in the National Football League and ninth in Arizona. The team improved upon their previous output of 4–12, winning seven games. Despite this improvement, the Cardinals failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourteenth consecutive season. This was Boomer Esiason's only season with the Cardinals as he would re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals after this season.
