The 2012–13 WNBL season was the 33rd season of competition since the Women's National Basketball League's establishment in 1981. A total of nine teams contested the league. The regular season was played between 5 October 2012 and 16 February 2013, followed by a post-season involving the top five on 23 February 2013 until 10 March 2013. Broadcast rights were held by free-to-air network ABC. ABC broadcast one game a week, at 3 pm at every standard time in Australia. Spalding provided equipment including the official game ball, with Champion supplying team apparel.

С этого сезона в финальные игры стали выходить всего по четыре клуба. В регулярном чемпионате приняло участие девять команд, на одну меньше, чем в прошлом, так как в межсезонье, в апреле 2012 года, был ликвидирован клуб «Австралийского института спорта». Сам сезон начался 5 октября матчем между прошлогодними финалистами, клубами «Данденонг Рейнджерс» и «Буллин Бумерс», в котором «Рейнджерс» переиграли соперника со счётом 90:75. Регулярный чемпионат в этом сезоне закончился 16 февраля, MVP которого была признана Сьюзи Баткович, центровая команды «Аделаида Лайтнинг». Тренер клуба «Бендиго Спирит», , признан тренером года, а Стефани Толбот из клуба «Аделаида Лайтнинг» — новичком года. Официально сезон 2012/2013 годов завершился 10 марта, когда клуб «Бендиго Спирит» переиграл в финальной встрече команду «Таунсвилл Файр» со счётом 71:57, а MVP финала была признана форвард «Спирит» Келси Гриффин.
