The 2016 World Draughts Championship match at the international draughts was held from December 3–18 in the Netherlands under auspice International Draughts Federation FMJD. The match was scheduled to take place between Jan Groenendijk and Roel Boomstra, who were second and third at last Draughts Championship. World Champion Alexander Georgiev (Russia) has informed FMJD that he will not defend his title. FMJD decided that the next player in the classifications of last WC, Roel Boomstra, should play the Match for World Title against the Vice Champion, Jan Groenendijk.

| - Le match pour le championnat du monde de dames 2016 s'est déroulé du 3 au 16 décembre 2016 dans différentes villes des Pays-Bas entre le deuxième de la Coupe du Monde, et le troisième, Roel Boomstra. Normalement, le match aurait dû être joué entre le champion en titre et le vice-champion, mais le défenseur du titre Alexander Georgiev s'est retiré, car après dix titres mondiaux il ne voyait plus aucun défi dans les dames. Boomstra a donc pris la place de Georgiev. Sur les douze parties du match, Roel Boomstra en a remporté quatre. (fr)

Normaliter zou de match gespeeld worden tussen de titelverdediger en de , maar titelverdediger Aleksandr Georgiejev trok zich terug omdat hij na tien wereldtitels geen uitdaging meer zag in het dammen.
