The 2019–20 Dallas Mavericks season was the 40th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This was the first season since 1997–1998 in which Dirk Nowitzki was not on the Mavericks roster as he retired in 2019. Nowitzki spent his entire 21-year career with the Mavericks, setting an NBA record. The season was suspended by the league officials following the games of March 11 after it was reported that Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. The Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets played the final game before the suspension of the season, a 113–97 Mavericks win.
