Two human polls made up the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season ended March 12, 2020. As a result, the NCAA did not bestow a national championship. Instead, that title was de facto bestowed by one or more different polling agencies. There were two main weekly polls that began in the preseason—the AP Poll and the Coaches' Poll. Kansas, while having not officially made a claim, finished first in both polls.
