Aero Trasporti Italiani Flight 12 was a domestic flight from Alghero-Fertilia Airport. On September 14, 1979, The Douglas DC-9 struck a rocky mountainside during an attempted landing, resulting in the loss of all 31 passengers and crew onboard. - Der Aero-Trasporti-Italiani-Flug 012 (Flugnummer IATA: BM012, ICAO: ATI012 Funkrufzeichen: ATI 012) war ein Inlandslinienflug der Aero Trasporti Italiani von Alghero nach Rom mit einem planmäßigen Zwischenstopp in Cagliari. Auf diesem Flug wurde am 14. September 1979 eine Douglas DC-9-32 kurz vor der Landung gegen einen Hügel geflogen, nachdem der Kapitän die Position der Maschine falsch eingeschätzt hatte. Il volo BM-PT 012 effettuava la tratta di linea tra gli aeroporti di Alghero-Fertilia e Cagliari-Elmas con un DC-9 con marche I-ATJC della compagnia Aero Trasporti Italiani (ATI). Alle 00:47 del 14 settembre 1979, il velivolo scomparve dai radar dei controllori di volo e si schiantò presso la cresta di un costone roccioso a circa 600 m s.l.m. mentre si accingeva a completare le manovre di avvicinamento all'aeroporto di Cagliari-Elmas. Non vi furono superstiti e nell'incidente persero la vita 31 persone: i 4 membri dell'equipaggio ed i 27 passeggeri dei quali nove erano diretti a Cagliari, mentre gli altri avrebbero dovuto proseguire per Roma. La commissione d'indagine appurò che l'aereo si schiantò a seguito di un'approssimativa ed erronea traiettoria di avvicinamento all'aeroporto. (it)
