Mistrzynią olimpijską w tej konkurencji została Hedy Schlunegger ze Szwajcarii, srebro wywalczyła Austriaczka Trude Beiser, a brąz zdobyła jej rodaczka - Resi Hammerer. Zjazd jako osobna konkurencja pojawi się w programie olimpijskim po raz pierwszy w historii. Wyniki były także przeliczane na punkty do kombinacji. (pl)
