- The Appendix Probi ("Probus' Appendix") is the conventional name for a series of five documents believed to have been copied in the seventh or eighth century in Bobbio, Italy. Its name derives from the fact that the documents were found attached to a copy of the Instituta Artium, a treatise named after (but probably not written by) the first-century grammarian Marcus Valerius Probus. Il s'agit en effet d'une liste de mots du latin classique, accompagnés de leur équivalent en bas latin. Rédigée aux alentours du IVe siècle, elle se lit à la fin d'un manuscrit palimpseste du VIIe siècle ou du VIIIe siècle contenant un exemplaire des Instituta artium attribués au grammairien Valerius Probus, mais c'est peut-être l'œuvre d'un professeur ou d'une école du IIIe siècle copiée et remaniée à plusieurs reprises. O texto foi encontrado num palimpsesto do século VIII intitulado Instituta artium, também conhecido como Ars vaticana por ter sido encontrado na biblioteca do Vaticano. (pt)
