In parallel, the line 14 has provided an entirely new template for the stations of the 21st century. (en) Vybavení stanic metra v Paříži prošlo během historie metra dlouhým vývojem. Zdejší metro má v provozu přes 300 stanic, které se nacházejí jak na území města Paříže, tak i na jeho předměstí. Každá z nich musí zajistit dobré podmínky pasažérům, o což se snaží několik generací architektů. Vzhled stanic se vyvíjí v závislosti na módě a modernizaci sítě. Od prvotních secesních vstupů Hectora Guimarda a interiérů obložených bílými zkosenými dlaždicemi se přešlo k několika různým typům dekorací nahrazující původní obklady, které byly považovány po druhé světové válce za nemoderní, přes využití kovu v 60. letech a oranžových dlaždic v 70. letech až po modernizaci v 21. století, která se vrací k původnímu stylu při využití moderních technologií. Od roku 1999 probíhá rekonstrukce hlavních stanic pod (cs) Die Métro Paris betreibt augenblicklich (Stand November 2013) 303 Bahnhöfe mit 385 Haltestellen. Da die Linien vollständig voneinander unabhängig sind, hat jede Linie ihre eigene Bahnsteighalle.Entsprechend der Tatsache, dass rund 90 % der Strecken unterirdisch verlaufen, liegen auch die weitaus meisten Metrobahnhöfe unterirdisch. Im Lauf der mehr als hundertjährigen Geschichte der Pariser Métro und wegen oft sehr unterschiedlichen örtlichen Gegebenheiten sind recht unterschiedliche Metrostationen entstanden. Diese differenzierten sich dann weiter durch Modernisierungen, die architektonischen Moden folgten. Andererseits gibt es durch die gleiche Aufgabenstellung – nämlich Personen zu den Zügen zu bringen – auch viele Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen den einzelnen Stationen.
