Dálnice A26 vede na severu země, spojuje pobřeží Středozemního moře (Ligurie) s městem Verbania v Piemontu (vedena je severo-jižním směrem). Její délka činí celkem 197 km; dálnice prochází Apeninami průsmykem Passo del Turchino ve výšce 532 m n. m. kde se nachází mnoho mostů a tunelů, např. ; její severní část je vedena v Pádské nížině. - The Autostrada A26 is a motorway in the northwestern Italian regions of Liguria and Piedmont. It is named the Autostrada dei Trafori (the Autostrada of the Tunnels) after the numerous tunnels through which it passes, both Apennine and Subalpine. It runs northwards from Genoa on the Ligurian coast, over the Apennines, and across the wide plain of the Po valley to the environs of Lake Maggiore and the mouth of the Val d’Ossola. In addition to this ‘main trunk’ of the road, there are three side branches, also of motorway class which function as link roads between the A26 and the A7, the A4 and the A8. - De A26 of Autostrada dei Trafori is een Italiaanse autosnelweg die begint bij het plaatsje Gravellona Toce vlak bij het Lago Maggiore. Vervolgens loopt de weg zuidwaarts door de Povlakte om daarna de regio Piëmont te doorkruisen. De weg eindigt met een knooppunt met de A10 bij Genua. Vanaf het knooppunt ter hoogte van Vercelli loopt de E25 mee tot Genua. (nl)

Com 197 km, é chamada de "Autoestrada dos Túneis" devido ao elevado número de túneis em seu traçado. O primeiro trecho aberto foi aquele conectando a capital da Liguria a Alexandria, inaugurado em 11 de agosto de 1977. Sua completa inauguração foi em 15 de dezembro de 1994, com a conclusão do segmento Gravellona Toce-SS 33. - L'Autoroute A26 dite aussi Autostrada dei Trafori (autoroute des tunnels) part de Gênes, traverse la chaîne des Apennins au Passo del Turchino (532 m), puis l'agglomération d'Ovada, et rejoint l'A21 près d'Alexandrie. Elle continue vers le Nord en longeant Casale Monferrato. Ensuite elle se divise en deux tronçons au sud de Verceil. Le tronçon ouest se confond avec l'A4 et l'A5 près de Santhià. Le tronçon oriental continue vers le nord, croise l'A4 à l'ouest de Novare, rejoint Sesto Calende (où elle rejoint l'A8) et suit les rives du Lac Majeur avec des sorties à Arona et Stresa. (fr)
