Mahamat "Baba" Moustapha (1952-1982) was a Chadian playwright writing in French. His plays include Le Maitre des Djinns ("La Mastro de la Ĝinoj"), Le Souffle de l'Harmattan ("La Spiro de Harmattano")and Makarie aux Épines. His posthumously published play Commandant Chaka (1983), a denunciation of military dictatorships, is considered to be his finest work. He is the namesake of the Association Artistique et Culturelle - Théâtre Vivant Baba Moustapha (ACT-TVBM), a theater company.

Après avoir effectué ses études primaires et secondaires à N'Djaména, il entre à l'Institut national d'administration. Il est ensuite préfet adjoint de Chari-Baguirmi, puis reprend ses études. Il meurt accidentellement en 1982 à Paris en France. Il est l'auteur du Maître des djinns, du Souffle de l'harmattan et de Makarie aux épines. L’Académie des sciences d’outre-mer lui décerne le prix Albert-Bernard en 2000. (fr)

Wydana pośmiertnie sztuka Commandant Chaka (1983), uznawana za najlepsze dzieło Moustaphy, jest ubraną w historyczny kostium rozprawą z typową dla wielu państw afrykańskich dyktaturą wojskową. Baby Moustapha. Jest to grupa teatralna, która realizuje przedstawienia według tekstów najlepszych dramaturgów afrykańskich, tym także samego Moustaphy. Jest też pierwszą czadyjską trupą teatralną, która występowała w teatrach zagranicznych (1986: Kamerun, 1988: Republika Środkowoafrykańska, 1989: Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso). (pl)
