Badut (Indonesian: Candi Badut) is an 8th-century Hindu candi (temple) located in Tidar area around 5 kilometres west from the center of Malang city. This andesite stone structure is located in Karang Besuki village, Dau subdistrict, Malang Regency, East Java Indonesia. Despite its location in East Java, unlike other temples near Malang — such as Singosari and Kidal Temple, this temple follows the older Candi style of Central Java. Estimated was built in 760 CE making this temple the oldest temple in East Java.

- Candi Badut adalah sebuah candi yang terletak di kawasan Tidar, di bagian barat kota Malang. Secara administratif candi badut terletak di kelurahan Karang Besuki, Kecamatan Sukun, Kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Lokasi candi ini berada di dekat Universitas Ma Chung, sekitar 15 menit berjalan kaki dari sana ke arah Timur. Lokasi ini juga dapat ditempuh dengan angkot jurusan AT, terminal Arjosari-Tidar. Lokasi tersebut dapat dilihat di [1]. Tidak seperti arsitektur candi Jawa Timur lainnya seperti Candi Singasari atau Candi Kidal, candi ini mengikuti arsitektur yang lebih tua di Jawa Tengah. Diperkirakan dibangun pada 760 M, oleh karena itu dianggap sebagai yang tertua di Jawa Timur. (in)

On estime qu'il est lié à l'inscription trouvée à Dinoyo près de Malang. Datée 682 de l'ère Saka, soit 760 apr. J.-C., celle-ci annonce que le roi Gajayana de Kanyuruhan a fait construire un édifice sacré rouge pour honorer Agastya. Ce roi est donc contemporain de ceux de la dynastie des Sailendra du centre de Java, qui ont construit le temple de Borobudur. Or, Badut se trouve près d'un village nommé Kejuron, visiblement une forme moderne du nom de Kanyuruhan. (fr)
