- Le Bagad Kemper est un bagad de la ville de Quimper dans le Finistère, en France. L'ensemble comporte aussi un groupe secondaire, le Bagad Glazik Kemper, ainsi qu'un bagad école, le Bagadig Kemper. Il est créé en 1949 et remporte son premier titre de championnat des bagadoù dès 1951. Il connait par la suite une période de performances moins bonnes jusqu'au milieu des années 1970 et remporte depuis régulièrement le championnat, le dernier étant obtenu en 2022. Il compte cette même année vingt-trois titres, ce qui en fait à ce jour le groupe le plus récompensé. (fr)

| - Bagad Kemper (using the Breton name for the town of Quimper) is one of the oldest bagad, Breton pipe bands. Formed in 1949, its first president was none other than Loeïz Ropars, renovator of the Fest Noz (dance party) and kan ha diskan singer (Breton traditional vocal dancing). This ensemble holds the record for the most national Championship title wins. Over time, this bagad has gradually reoriented itself toward collaborations with musicians from other traditions, like the Galician Susana Seivane and Carlos Núñez or South-African Johnny Clegg. Bagad Kemper were also a main feature of the very successful Heritage des Celtes (Heritage of the Celts) series of concerts, which brought together musicians from all horizons of the Celtic world. They celebrated their 60th anniversary with Breizh Balkanik, a show blending Balkan and Breton music worlds, with the Breton singer Erik Marchand. Except Dan Ar Braz, the bagad also accompanied on stage the band Red Cardell. (en)

Ihr Name lässt sich mit „Spielmannszug (oder Musiktruppe) aus Quimper“ übersetzen. Allerdings sind sowohl die Zusammenstellung der verwendeten Instrumente als auch das Liedgut, das sie – wie andere Bagadoù auch – vorträgt, im keltisch-bretonischen Kulturraum verankert. Ihre Besetzung entspricht der nahezu aller bretonischen Bagadoù und besteht aus vier Hauptgruppen von Instrumenten: den Bombarden, den Binioù braz, den kleinen Trommeln sowie einzelnen großen Doppelfelltrommeln und anderen Schlaginstrumenten. Beim Festival Interceltique in Lorient 2012 (siehe das Foto rechts) nahmen beispielsweise 54 Musiker beiderlei Geschlechts an der Großen Parade teil, wobei zwei errungene Trophäen vorneweg getragen und den Zuschauern präsentiert wurden. Der musikalische Leiter, den man in der Bretagne als Penn-Soner (wörtlich „Kopf der Musiker“) bezeichnet, ist in der Regel entweder einer der Flötisten oder ein Dudelsackspieler. Seit den 1990er Jahren hat die Gruppe sich zunehmend auch gegenüber anderen Musikgenres geöffnet; dabei nimmt sie aufgrund zahlreicher gemeinsamer Auftritte und Plattenproduktionen mit Künstlern aus anderen Regionen und Stilrichtungen mittlerweile eine Vorreiterrolle unter den bretonischen Bagadoù ein.
