The Batticaloa Fort (Tamil: மட்டக்களப்புக் கோட்டை, romanized: Maṭṭakkaḷappuk Kōṭṭai; Sinhala: මඩකලපුව බලකොටුව, romanized: Madakalapuwa Balakotuwa) was built by the Portuguese in 1628 and was captured by the Dutch on 18 May 1638. From 1795, the fort was used by the British. The fort has a structure of four bastions and is protected by the Batticaloa Lagoon on two sides and a canal on the other two sides. The fort is still in reasonable condition and currently houses several local administrative departments of the Sri Lanka government in new buildings, which are located within the old structure.

- Fort Batticaloa is een voormalig Nederlands fort van de Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie aan de oostkust van Ceylon, het huidige Sri Lanka, nabij de stad Batticaloa. Het fort (in de begintijd van de VOC Fort Baticalo genoemd) is gebouwd in 1668. Het ligt niet direct aan zee, zoals de andere VOC forten in Sri Lanka, maar op de meest westelijke punt van een eilandje in een lagune, met een smalle uitgang naar zee. Het is een klein fort, met een oppervlakte van ongeveer 100 bij 120 meter. Het is gemaakt van koraalsteen en heeft vier bastions. Het wordt aan twee kanten beschermd door het water van de lagune en aan de andere twee kanten door een gracht, waarin vroeger krokodillen zwommen vanuit de lagune.
