Han var 2001–2005 professor vid Princeton University och är sedan 2005 verksam vid University of Texas i Austin. Engquist blev 1996 ledamot av Vetenskapsakademien och 1997 ledamot av Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien. (sv) Björn Engquist (* 2. Juni 1945 in Stockholm) ist ein schwedischer angewandter Mathematiker. Engquist wurde 1969 an der Universität Uppsala bei Heinz-Otto Kreiss in Numerischer Mathematik promoviert. Danach lehrte er an der University of California, Los Angeles. Ab 2001 war er Professor an der Princeton University und Direktor von deren Programm in Angewandter und Numerischer Mathematik sowie ab 2005 Professor an der University of Texas at Austin. Seit 1993 ist er außerdem Professor an der Königlich Technischen Hochschule Stockholm, wo er das Parallel and Scientific Computing Institute (PSCI) leitet. A partir de 2001 foi professor na Universidade de Princeton e diretor de seu programa em matemática aplicada e numérica e a partir de 2005 professor na Universidade do Texas em Austin.
