Le nom est dérivé comme mot-valise des initiales du butadiène, le monomère du caoutchouc synthétique, et du catalyseur sodium (en allemand : Natrium) qui sert à faciliter la polymérisation anionique. (fr) Buna GmbH – zakłady chemiczne zajmujące się produkowaniem polimerowych tworzyw sztucznych w Schkopau. Zakłady chemiczne powstały na przełomie 1936 i 1937 roku, były częścią koncernu IG Farben. W 1941 roku na potrzeby produkcji syntetycznego kauczuku oraz płynnych paliw rozpoczęto budowę zakładów Buna-Werke w Dworach Koło Oświęcimia, pracowali w nim więźniowie obozu koncentracyjnego Auschwitz III (Monowitz). Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej w 1954 roku zakłady zostały wywłaszczone i przekształcone w przedsiębiorstwo państwowe Kombinat VEB Chemische Werke Buna. W dniu 4 kwietnia 1995 roku nowym właścicielem została firma The Dow Chemical Company. (pl) Buna-Werke, Buna, (av BUtadien-NAtrium) är en kemisk fabrik i Schkopau i Sachsen-Anhalt i Tyskland. Anläggningen uppfördes ursprungligen av IG Farben 1935. Efter kriget övertogs anläggningen i Schkopau av östtyska staten och omvandlades till ett folkägt företag. Under DDR-tiden var anläggningen mycket miljöförstörande men har under nya ägare omvandlats till en modern anläggning. Omstruktureringen inleddes av Treuhandanstalt. Buna-Werke hade via ägaren IG Farben under andra världskriget en produktionsanläggning i Auschwitz (Monowitz). (sv)
