The Bundesjugendspiele ("Federal Youth Games") are an annual sports event that takes place at German schools and German international schools. They are obligatory for all students.   • Die Bundesjugendspiele sind eine jährlich an deutschen Schulen und Auslandsschulen durchgeführte Sportveranstaltung. Die Teilnahme der Schüler ist gemäß einem Beschluss der Kultusministerkonferenz von 1979 verpflichtend. In der DDR hieß die entsprechende Veranstaltung Kinder- und Jugendspartakiade. Von den teilnehmenden Schülern wird erwartet, dass sie in bestimmten Disziplinen (Leichtathletik, Turnen) möglichst gute Leistungen erzielen. Meist wird ein Dreikampf in den Disziplinen Werfen (im höheren Alter Kugelstoßen), Laufen (Sprint) und Weitsprung, zusätzlich ein Langstreckenlauf (z. B. 1000 Meter) durchgeführt. Die erzielten Leistungen werden mit Punkten bewertet. Erreicht der Teilnehmer eine bestimmte Mindestpunktzahl, erhält er als Anerkennung für seine Leistung eine Siegerurkunde, ab einer bestimmten höheren Punktegrenze eine Ehrenurkunde. Die Ehrenurkunden tragen eine (gedruckte) Unterschrift des Bundespräsidenten. Alle anderen Schüler, die weder Sieger- noch Ehrenurkunde erhalten haben, bekommen seit 1991 eine Teilnahmeurkunde. (de)

If the participant achieves a specific minimum score, they are given a simple certificate. Above a certain higher score they receive an 'honorary certificate', which bear the (printed) signature of the Federal President. Since 1991, all other students, who have neither received a 'certificate of achievement' nor an 'honorary certificate', get a 'certificate of participation'. (en)
