- César Chesneau Dumarsais ou Du Marsais, (Marselha, 17 de julho de 1676 - Paris, 11 de junho de 1756), foi um gramático e filósofo francês. Depois de estudar com os oratorianos de Marselha, ingressou nessa congregação, embora logo a tenha deixado para estudar direito em Paris. Suas dificuldades financeiras o forçaram a abandonar a escola e ele trabalhou como tutor em várias casas ricas, incluindo a do economista John Law e a do Marquês de Beaufremont. D'Alembert chamou-lhe "A Fonte dos Filósofos". Em suas obras mostrava sinais de especial força espiritual, notável senso comum e ampla erudição. (pt)
- César Chesneau, sieur Dumarsais or Du Marsais (July 17, 1676 – June 11, 1756) was a French philosophe, grammarian and contributor to the Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers. He was a prominent figure in what became known as the Enlightenment, and contributed to Diderot's Encyclopédie. After his death, Jacques-Philippe-Augustin Douchet and Nicolas Beauzée, who were both teachers at the École royale militaire, took over his work. (en)

Tras estudiar con los oratorianos de Marsella, ingresó en dicha congregación, aunque salió pronto de ella para estudiar Derecho en París. Sus dificultades económicas le obligaron a dejar los estudios y trabajó como preceptor en distintas casas ricas, entre ellas la del economista John Law y la del marqués de Beaufremont. (es)
