Ceto (Indonesian: Candi Ceto) is a fifteenth-century Javanese-Hindu temple that is located on the western slope of Mount Lawu (elev. 1495 m above sea level) on the border between Central and East Java provinces. It is close to Sukuh temple.

- Construit vers 1470, le Candi Cetho est le plus récent des temples javanais de la période hindou-bouddhique trouvés à ce jour. Il est situé sur le flanc nord-ouest du mont Lawu, à environ 80 km à l'est de Solo, à une altitude de 1 400 mètres. Cetho est toujours un lieu de culte. Les habitants de la région sont restés hindouistes.

| - Ceto (Indonesian: Candi Ceto) is a fifteenth-century Javanese-Hindu temple that is located on the western slope of Mount Lawu (elev. 1495 m above sea level) on the border between Central and East Java provinces. Cetho is one of several temples built on the northwest slopes of Mount Lawu in the fifteenth century. By this time, Javanese religion and art had diverged from Indian precepts that had been so influential on temples styles during the 8-10th century. This area was the last significant area of temple building in Java before the island's courts were converted to Islam in the 16th century. The temples' distinctiveness and the lack of records of Javanese ceremonies and beliefs of the era make it difficult for historians to interpret the significance of these antiquities. - Construit vers 1470, le Candi Cetho est le plus récent des temples javanais de la période hindou-bouddhique trouvés à ce jour. Il est situé sur le flanc nord-ouest du mont Lawu, à environ 80 km à l'est de Solo, à une altitude de 1 400 mètres. Situé en un lieu isolé, souvent envahi par la brume, Cetho baigne dans une atmosphère étrange. Il est constitué par une dizaine de terrasses qui se succèdent en étage, précédées d'un candi bentar, porte fendue que l'on retrouve encore notamment à Bali mais aussi dans les palais de l'île de Java, à Cirebon, Surakarta et Yogyakarta. Sur les trois dernières terrasses se trouvent des petits pavillons restaurés qui contiennent diverses statues et un lingam. Cetho est toujours un lieu de culte. Les habitants de la région sont restés hindouistes.

Situado a 1 495 m de altitude, Ceto é um dos vários templos hindus construídos no século XV nas encostas do vulcão Lawu. Nessa época, a religião e arte javanesas tinham divergido dos preceitos indianos que tinham tido grande influência no estilo dos templos javaneses dos séculos VIII a X. A região do monte Lawu foi a última área onde houve construção significativa de templos em Java antes das cortes da ilha se terem convertido ao islão no século XVI. As caraterísticas únicas do templo e a inexistência de registos sobre as cerimónias e crenças javanesas desse tempo tornam difícil aos historiadores a tarefa de interpretarem o significado do monumento.
