Charles Ernest Cartier (1875–1959) was a senator from Michigan from 1911 to 1912. He represented the twenty-sixth district, comprising Lake County, Manistee County, Mason County, Newaygo County, and Oceana County. He was born in Manistee, Michigan, on March 24, 1875. He got his initial educated in the Ludington, Michigan, public schools and higher education from the University of Michigan. He was manager of a factory for seven years, manager of a general store, and in the lumber and coal business for six years. He served as the mayor of Ludington in 1908 and 1909, he was a director of the First National Bank of Ludington, a vice president of the Cartier Lumber Company, and the Cartier Manufacturing Company. In politics, Cartier voted for the Republican party.
