Henry Lord Cardross was fined and jailed for his faith and use of unlicensed ministers. The union between Lucy and Charles and the birth of David Stuart were within the same year 1686/7. The decision for dissolution of the union was decided when Lord Moray converted to Catholicism in 1687. The union was dissolved on grounds of use of an unlicensed minister.
