The Charlottenkreuz ("Charlotte Cross") was a decoration instituted on 5 January 1916 by King William II of Württemberg and named after his wife, the Queen of Württemberg, born Princess Charlotte of Schaumburg-Lippe. It was to be awarded to all persons who had acquired particular merit either in the field or at home in the care of the wounded and ill, or in the general area of war-related care provision. The decoration was worn on a yellow ribbon, with a narrow and a wide black stripe on each side, on the left breast.

Изначально крест изготавливался на Королевском Вюртембергском монетном дворе в Штутгарте.На ранних крестах «таблетки» были накладные (припаянные).С 1917 года крест стал выпускаться цельноштампованным.Сам крест изготавливался из серебра.В конце 1917 года его стали делать из низкопробного серебра, с последующим серебрением, а с 1918 года серебро заменили нойзильбером.В этом же году партию креста Шарлотты заказали на фабрике Поля Мейбауера.Они были выполнены из меди с серебрением. Лента награды — золотистого цвета, с одной широкой и одной узкой чёрной полосой по каждому краю. (ru)
