Era el tercer fill de Gondioc; aquest va designar hereus als seus quatre fills, però segons sembla el seu germà Khilperic I de Burgúndia i un altre germà (Gondió) encara vivien i van restar al front, i Khilperic I hauria governat després sol fins a la seva mort (473-476). Ο Χιλπέριχος Β΄ ήταν την περίοδο 463 - 473 συμβασιλέας στο Βασίλειο των Βουργουνδών μαζί με τον πατέρα του. Με τον θάνατο του Γκουντέριχου (473 ή 474) ο Χιλπέριχος Β΄ και οι τρεις μικρότεροι αδελφοί του μοίρασαν το βασίλειο : ο Χιλπέριχος Β΄ δέχτηκε τη Βαλάνς, ο Γοδεγίσελος την Γενεύη, ο Γκουντομπάντ τη Βιέν και ο Γκοντομάρ Β΄ την Λυών.Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 470 ο μάγιστρος τού στρατού Εκδίκιος τον πίεσε να υποταχθεί στην Ρωμαϊκή αυτοκρατορία. - Chilperich II. († wohl um 476) war ein Sohn des Königs Gundioch und Bruder von Godegisel, Godomar I. und Gundobad. Die ältere Forschung ging davon aus, dass nach dem Tod Gundiochs und dessen Bruders Chilperich I. die vier Söhne Gundiochs eine gemeinsame Samtherrschaft ausgeübt und in verschiedenen Städten ihre Residenz bezogen hätten. Gregor von Tours berichtet, dass Chilperich (nachdem er mit dem Schwert getötet worden war) zusammen mit seiner Frau auf Bestreben seines Bruders Gundobad, sich sein Reich einzuverleiben, in einem Brunnen geworfen wurde. Seine Tochter Chrodechild habe danach aus Blutrache 523/24 ihren Sohn Chlodomer dazu angestiftet, Krieg gegen die Burgunden zu führen und auch Sigismund, den Sohn Gundobads, wie ihren Vater mitsamt seiner Familie in einem Brunnen zu ertränken (de)
