Cora benitoana is only known to occur in a small region in Oaxaca, where it grows as an epiphyte on tree trunks in a cloud forest, at elevations ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 m (6,600 to 9,800 ft). It usually grows over mosses and liverworts, particularly from the genus Frullania. (en)
