The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) (Irish: An Biúró um Shócmhainní Coiriúla) is a law enforcement agency in Ireland. The CAB was established with powers to focus on the illegally acquired assets of criminals involved in serious crime. The aims of the CAB are to identify the criminally acquired assets of persons and to take the appropriate action to deny such people these assets. This action is taken particularly through the application of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996. The CAB was established as a body corporate with perpetual succession in 1996 and is founded on the multi-agency concept, drawing together law enforcement officers, tax officials, social welfare officials as well as other specialist officers including legal officers, forensic analysts and financial analysts. This multi-agency

  • Gníomhaireacht feidhmithe dlí é an Biúró um Shócmhainní Coiriúla (Béarla: Criminal Assets Bureau, CAB) agus í ag obair in Éirinn. Nuair a cuireadh an Biúró ar bun, dílsíodh cumhachtaí ar leith dó le díriú ar shócmhainní ar tháinig coirpigh ina seilbh de thoradh a gcuid tromchionta. Is é is cuspóir don Bhiúró ná sócmhainní coiriúla a aithint le féachaint chuige nach féidir leis na coirpigh úsáid a bhaint as na sócmhainní sin. Is é an sás is fearr chuige sin ná an tAcht um Fháltais ó Choireacht a reachtaíodh sa bhliain 1996. Bunaíodh an Biúró sa bhliain 1996 mar fhoras corparáideach a bhfuil comharbas suthain aige, agus é ag tarraingt ar chuidiú ó ghníomhaireachtaí éagsúla ar nós lucht feidhmithe dlí, bailitheoirí cánach, feidhmeannaigh leasa shóisialta agus speisialtóirí eile ar nós dlíodói (ga)
