Cumberland East Bay is a bay forming the eastern arm of Cumberland Bay, South Georgia. It is entered between Sappho Point on Thatcher Peninsula and Barff Point on Barff Peninsula. It is nearly 3 miles (4.8 km) wide, and extends 8 miles (13 km) in a southeast direction.

| - Die Cumberland East Bay ist der östliche Seitenarm der Cumberland Bay an der Nordküste Südgeorgiens. Sie reicht vom Sappho Point, wo ihre Breite 5 km beträgt, 13 km landeinwärts in südöstlicher Richtung. In das Kopfende der Bucht mündet der Nordenskjöld-Gletscher. Die Bucht wurde bei der Schwedischen Antarktisexpedition (1901–1903) unter der Leitung Otto Nordenskjölds kartografisch unter dem Namen South Bay erfasst. Nach einer weiteren Vermessung durch Teilnehmer der britischen Discovery Investigations zwischen 1926 und 1929 erhielt sie den topographisch korrekteren Namen East Cumberland Bay. Parallel dazu war auch die verkürzte Form East Bay in Gebrauch, bis das UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee 1955 entschied, die Benennung in die jetzige Form abzuändern, um damit der topographischen Benennung der gesamten Cumberland Bay Rechnung zu tragen und eine Verwechslung mit der East Bay im Prince Olav Harbour zu vermeiden. Elle est explorée par l'expédition Antarctic suédoise (1901–1904), qui la nomme « Baie du Sud ». Elle est cartographie avec précision en 1926–1929 par les membres des et renommée « Baie Est Cumberland » (en anglais : East Cumberland Bay), ce qui décrit mieux sa position position géographique. La version raccourcie de « Baie Est » (en anglais : East Bay) est également utilisée à l'époque. À la suite de la de 1951–1952, le UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee propose que le nom Cumberland East Bay soit retenu et que toutes les autres variantes soient abandonnées.
